Event Marshal
What the app collects, why it needs it, and how to remove it.
Effective 16 September 2026Event Marshal shows BMW CCA chapter events on your phone. Browsing events requires no account and collects nothing about you. If you choose to sign in with MotorsportReg, the app stores your name, email address and chapter memberships so it can show you which events you are registered for.
Nothing is sold. Nothing is shared with advertisers or data brokers. There is no tracking across other apps or websites. You can delete everything from inside the app, at any time, in two taps.
Event Marshal is built and published by Lenny Karenski, an individual developer and club member, with the permission of the BMW CCA Boston Chapter. Contact: goneapp2025@gmail.com.
The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by BMW of North America, LLC, and is not an official product of BMW CCA or any of its chapters.
The app is fully usable signed out. In that state it collects no personal information at all. It reads the chapters' published event calendars and shows them to you. Your chapter filters and any events you save are kept on your own device and are never sent anywhere.
Signing in is optional and exists for one reason: so the app can show you your own registrations and assignments. You sign in on motorsportreg.com — the app never sees your password.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | To show who is signed in, and so a chapter organiser can identify you if you send feedback. |
| Profile photo, if you have one on MotorsportReg | Shown on your own profile screen in the app. |
| Your MotorsportReg profile ID and chapter memberships | To work out which chapters' events are yours, and to identify you to MotorsportReg when the app asks for your registrations. |
| The list of events you are registered for | So the app can mark them and show them together. Fetched from MotorsportReg and cached so the app works without a signal at a track. |
| An access token for MotorsportReg | Lets the app read your registrations without asking you to sign in again. Stored on the server only, never in the app, and readable by no one — including you — through any public interface. |
| A notification token, if you turn notifications on | So a chapter organiser can send a message about an event you are registered for. Turning notifications off removes it. |
| Feedback you send | Only if you use the Send feedback screen. Stored with your account so a reply is possible. |
Run group and instructor pairings originate in Driving Evals, a purpose-built platform for organising high performance driving instruction: student evaluations, instructor pairing and run group planning. It remains the system of record for that work. Event Marshal displays its output and contributes nothing to it.
The two are connected through an authorised integration, developed with the Driving Evals team. A chapter coordinator signs in to Driving Evals from within the app and grants Event Marshal permission to read the events they already coordinate. The coordinator selects an event, reviews a summary of what would be published — attendee counts, run groups, and how many students have an instructor assigned — and confirms. Re-importing replaces the previous version, so a pairing revised during the week reaches attendees the next time they open the app.
Published sheets show first name, last name, car and run group to other attendees of that event — the same information posted at the track. Email addresses, telephone numbers, stated goals, experience and skill level are present in the source data and are removed during the import and never stored.
Coordinator credentials. Authorisation takes place on drivingevals.com, so the app never receives a password. The resulting access token is held on the coordinator's own device — in the Keychain on iPhone, and encrypted under a key held in the device's secure hardware on Android — and is never transmitted to our servers. It permits reading only: nothing in Driving Evals can be altered through this app. The downloaded sheet is retained in memory for the duration of the import rather than written to storage. Where the app offers a Disconnect Driving Evals control, using it removes the token from that device; otherwise write to the address below and the connection will be removed for you.
Data is stored using Google Firebase, on servers in the United States. Google processes it on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.
The only other parties involved are:
Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party. Information is disclosed otherwise only if required by law.
Your account and its data are kept for as long as you use the app. There is no automatic expiry — a club season is long, and quietly deleting someone's account between seasons would be worse than keeping it.
Short-lived sign-in records created during the MotorsportReg handshake are deleted as soon as they are used, and in any case within an hour.
Run group sheets stay with their event. A chapter can withdraw one at any time, and a member can ask for their row to be removed by writing to the address below.
Removes your profile, your chapter memberships, your cached registrations, your notification registration, any feedback you sent, and the app's access to your MotorsportReg account. Your saved events and your Before You Go checklist are cleared from your phone at the same time. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
Your MotorsportReg account is not affected. It belongs to MotorsportReg, not to this app. Your club membership, your event registrations and your history there all stay exactly as they are. Deleting here only ends this app's access.
A coordinator's Driving Evals account is likewise untouched.
You can sign in again afterwards with the same MotorsportReg account, and the app will start over with nothing saved.
If you cannot reach the app for any reason, write to goneapp2025@gmail.com and the same deletion will be done for you. The account deletion page sets out both routes and exactly what is removed and kept.
You can see everything the app holds about you on your own profile screen, and you can delete all of it from the same screen. If you would like a copy of it in a file, or have a question about any of the above, write to goneapp2025@gmail.com.
Event Marshal is intended for BMW CCA members and is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed in, write to the address above and the account will be removed.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who sees it, the effective date at the top will change and the change will be described here. Continued use of the app after that date means the revised policy applies.
16 September 2026 — the Android app gained the coordinator features the iPhone app already had. Where a coordinator's Driving Evals token is stored is now described for both platforms. No change to what the app collects.
14 September 2026 — named Driving Evals as the source of run group and instructor assignments, and described what a chapter coordinator's connection to it stores. No change to what the app collects.
